An organization came out of Sri Lanka as a protector of Tamil, which was a terrorist organization ie LTTE During this time, all the countries were thinking that due to how peace came to Sri Lanka, the government ordered the army to abolish the LTTE in 1983 and 2009In the incident that lasted until 2009, a large massacre took place. UNHRC who is a body of 47 members, recently voted for him under the present circumstances.
UNHRC adopted resolution against sri lanka Huma right record . india abstain form voting.Even today in Sri Lanka, Sinhalese do partiality with the Tamils there is not the situation which should be in every democratic country That's why UN Warns Sri Lanka and asks Sri Lanka to work on 28 points. India has abstained from voting on a human rights violation resolution against Sri Lanka at the United Nations Human Rights Council meeting. Representatives of India were absent in the UNSRC during this period. The resolution accused the Sri Lankan military of violating human rights and tortured large numbers of Tamil people during the campaign against the LTTE in Jaffna. The difficulty faced by India was whether it should follow the religion of being neighbor to Sri Lanka or stand in favor of protecting the Tamil minorities. After which India decided to abstain from the voting held on this resolution.
Rajapaksa called Modi and sought his support
Sri Lanka wanted India's support on this proposal. For this, the President of Gotabaya Rajapaksa also spoke to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the phone. It is being told that India decided not to vote on this proposal due to its own people on both sides. There is already a dispute between India and the United Nations Human Rights Council. Recently, India reacted sharply against the statement of the Human Rights Council against the agitation against agricultural laws. India and UNHRC are also face to face with the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
India had the option of not voting on this issue. Because if India had voted in support of this, Sri Lanka would have been angry. This would have given China and Pakistan another chance to infiltrate Sri Lanka. At the same time, if India had voted against this proposal, the Tamils of South India would have been angry. Assembly elections are going to be held in Tamil Nadu next month. In such a situation, if the Government of India has decided to abstain from voting, not taking risks on the issue of Tamils.
